About the Director

ADRIAN ESCARENO

Adrian felt a calling from the Lord to serve as the Director of Vacation Bible School at First Love Calvary Chapel in 2017 (with his first VBS being Superhero). Adrian took the vision of a spirit-led VBS program from First Love's Maureen Schaffer, and when he transitioned to attend and serve at Faith House, he kept the heart of the program. He is excited to lead the VBS program at Faith House to provide a Spirit-led camp where attendees learn more about Jesus Christ and create long-lasting memories.

Adrian was born and raised in Whittier and has over ten years of experience working with children of different ages, identities, and socio-economic statuses. Adrian has his B.A degree and Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential in the State of California. He is currently a candidate for a Master of Education at Biola University. Adrian is a current 2nd-year middle school teacher at a local private school in Uptown Whittier. Before that, Adrian worked with children 6 weeks-12 years old while managing a child-care facility in South Orange County and student taught in a kindergarten classroom at Leffingwell Elementary.

Adrian is LiveScan background checked, in the Trustline Registry, CPR/AED/First Aid certified for infants/children/adults, and has completed sensitivity training for youth. Above all, Adrian loves to use his creativity, leadership, and child-at-heart personality to show the children in our community the love of Christ and fun!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Check out some of the most common questions we get asked below. If you can’t find the information you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to contact us, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

What ages can enroll in VBS?

Four years (potty-trained) through 8th grade.

How can I volunteer at VBS?

Click here to sign up. If you are 18+, you will be enrolled as a volunteer, while 9th-12th grade students are considered junior volunteers.

Can I sign up for my neighbors/another relative since I will be taking them/dropping them off?

You can register the child; however, the parent/guardian must be listed and stated as the primary contact person. Make sure you are listed as a pickup contact so that you are authorized to do so during the camp.

Can I stay with my child during the whole duration of VBS?

Due to the safety of the children, we do not allow parents/guardians to stay with the child after drop off. However, if the child needs special assistance, please contact the VBS Director, and accommodations will be made. If your child is in the PreK group, you may stay for a limited time. Please get in touch with the VBS Director for more information.

My child has specific allergies and/or special needs. Can they still come?

Of course! Children of all levels, abilities, and walks of life are welcome to our VBS (Matthew 19:14)! For allergies and unique accommodations, a color-coded sticker will be placed on the child’s name tag, so our volunteers and leadership team are aware at all times.

How much is the registration fee per child?

VBS is free for all attendees; there is no cost to attend! If you would like to make a monetary donation toward our VBS, please click here, and under the “Fund” tab, select “Vacation Bible School.”

What should my child wear?

You should dress your child in appropriate “outdoor” clothing (i.e., bottoms, top, closed-toed shoes, hat) as the children rotate to various activity stations throughout the day. We also have “silly days” where children can dress up according to the day's theme.

How can I register my child for VBS?

Registration can be done online by clicking here. Registration opened on June 11th, 2023.

How do I check my child into VBS?

On the first day of VBS, the doors will open at 8:30 am for non-preregistered children and 8:45 am Tuesday-Friday for everyone. You will need to take your child to the grade group check-in table corresponding to the grade they will be entering in the upcoming school year. Our registration team will help get the child checked in, and you may walk them into the sanctuary to their group and group leader(s).

How do I check out my child from VBS?

Each Vacation Bible School day ends at 1 pm; however, you may pick up your child anytime. Go to any “check-in” table and show an identification document (ID, DL, or an official document that states your first and last name as stated on the registration). You may pick up all children you are authorized to (as displayed on the registration form), and you will be directed to the multi-purpose room as a volunteer retrieves the child(ren).
